will you recognize me?

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Twelve. What's your favourite quote?

Oh man. There are so many great quotes in this movie. And so many are still "relevant." How can I choose just one?

  1. Bender: “You’re a neomaxizoomdweebie.”
  2. Bender: “Eat. My. Shorts.”
  3. Bender: Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?
  4. Bender: “Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place.”
  5. Mr. Vernon: “Don’t mess with the bull, young man. You’ll get the horns.”
  6. Andrew: “We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that’s all.”
  7. Bender: “So, it’s sorta social, demented and sad, but social.”
  8. Andrew: “I didn’t dump my purse out on the couch and invite everyone into my problems.”
  9. Bender: Well I'm free the Saturday after that. Beyond that, I'm going to have to check my calendar.
Vernon: Good, cause it's going to be filled. We'll keep going. You want another one? Just say the word say it. Instead of going to prison you'll come here. Are you through?
    Bender: No.
Vernon: I'm doing society a favor.
    Bender: So?
Vernon: That's another one right now! I've got you for the rest of your natural born life if you don't watch your step. You want another one?
    Bender: Yes.
Vernon: You got it! You got another one right there! That's another one pal!
  10. Bender: “Well, Brian, this is a very nutritious lunch. All the food groups are represented. Did your mom marry Mr. Rogers?”Brian: “Uh, no. Mr. Johnson.”
  11. Bender: “You won’t accept a guy’s tongue in your mouth, and you’re going to eat that?”Claire: “Can I eat?”Bender: “I don’t know. Give it a try.”
  12. Mr. Vernon: “The next time I have to come in here, I’m crackin’ skulls.”
  13. Bender: “You keep eating your hand, and you’re not gonna be hungry for lunch…”
  14. Andrew: “Just you and me. Two hits…me hitting you, you hitting the floor.”
  15. Brian: “Are you gonna be, like, a shopping bag lady?”
  16. Bender: Sweets. You couldn't ignore me if you tried.
  17. Richard Vernon: What did you wanna be when you were young?
Carl: When I was a kid, I wanted to be John Lennon.
Richard Vernon: Carl, don't be a goof. I'm making a serious point here.
  18. Bender: That man... is a brownie hound.
  19. Bender: You know how you said before, how your parents use you to get back at each other? Wouldn't I be outstanding in that capacity?
  20. Brian: “Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.”

rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Eleven. Take an analytical stance; what do you think the movie means in metaphorical sense?

Everyone hides behind a mask, a label. Maybe deep down the person knows that they aren't what the they are labeled to be. Everryone has problems, no matter who they are. And the problems don't seperate us but bring us closer together and remind us we are all human. So be kind to everyone you meet, because everyone is fighting a hard battle.

look my way, never love me

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Ten. Which character do you relate to the least?

Either Brian or Claire... but I guess I'll go with Claire. I'm not much of  'princess'

Wednesday 28 March 2012

will you stand above me?

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Nine. How would you feel if someone remade the Breakfast Club?

(See day four.)

I think I'd be slightly disappointed that someone would want to (I mean, I'd be curious as to how they stick to the original and cast-choice and music but that's about it). It still resonates with people and I can't see how a new version would improve on the old. And if they made a 'sequel' instead were they took the original and then just modernized it with a tweaked story line and a couple added characters, maybe a new place... no. Those are called straight-to-video, usually musical, sequels that fail at life.

when the light gets into your heart, baby

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Eight. Which one of the characters would you hang out with for a day?

I know which one I would want to. But I can't see us getting along.

I'd want to hang out with Bender, but I think Allison would be the wiser choice. As long as she doesn't steal my wallet. Or keys.

Monday 26 March 2012

slow change may pull us apart

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Seven. Assign each of the 'labels' to some of your friends. The jock, the basket case, etc.

The Athlete = Lauren
The Basket Case = ?
The Brain = Monica
The Criminal = ?
The Princess = Sarah (hehehe)

But isn't this what the movie told us not to do? Because everyone is all of these things somehow...

Sunday 25 March 2012

think of the tender things that we were working on

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Six. Who's your least favourite character?

Do you need to ask? Vernon of course.

Saturday 24 March 2012

love's strange, so real in the dark

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Five. What's your favourite scene?

My favourite scene would be when Bender is acting out the other's home life and then end's up acting out his own. He pretty much opens up to them and is vulnerable and they don't believe he's telling the truth. So, understandably, he gets angry and storms/climbs outta there and looks fairly upset at himself for opening up and at the others for not taking his word. Brilliant.

Close second is the 'chase' scene around the school. Awesome.

Friday 23 March 2012

giving me everything inside and out

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Four. Recast the movie with your favourite actors. Who would play what?

NOTE: I do not actually want there to be a remake of The Breakfast Club. This is just for fun using people who look somewhat similar (in modern standards) and have some level acting skill. Also I think most are a little older than the 'highschool' age they are portraying but whatevs.

John Bender aka The Criminal
('kay this was the hardest character ever to recast. just saying)
original: Judd Nelson
recast: Colton Haynes

Claire Standish aka The Princess
original: Molly Ringwald
recast: Emma Stone

Andrew Clarke aka The Athlete
original: Emilio Estevez
recast: Drew van Acker

Allison Reynolds aka The Basket Case
original:Ally Sheedy
recast: Kat Dennings

Brian Johnson aka The Brain
original: Anthony Michael Hall
recast: Michael Cera

Richard Vernon aka The Principal
original: Paul Gleason
recast: Hugh Laurie  (runner-up: Alec Baldwin)

Carl Reed aka The Janitor
original: John Kapelos
recast: Neil Flynn

Thursday 22 March 2012

tell me your troubles and doubts

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Three. Which character do you relate to most?

I think it's a mix up between Bender and Alison. Alison is pretty quiet and gets neglected while Bender has that whole tough-guy image and anger stuff.

Though the whole thing with the parents I pretty much relate to none of them haha.

Wednesday 21 March 2012

i'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day Two. Who's your favourite character?

Can't lie. It's Bender.

Tuesday 20 March 2012

won't you come see about me?

30 Day Breakfast Club Challenge. Day One. When did you first see the Breakfast Club?

Grade 11. In CALM class with Tawnya. Best external things going on were the teacher repeatedly telling us to ignore the swearing every single time. And making "ooooh" sounds. And Tawnya going "I see what you did there" and "Did you see that? Did. You. SEE. That?" Good times.

Walk [Foo Fighters]

A million miles away
Your signal in the distance
To whom it may concern
I think I lost my way
Getting good at starting over
Every time that I return

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
Where do I begin?

Do you remember the days
We built these paper mountains
And sat and watched them burn?
I think I found my place
Can't you feel it growing stronger?
Little conquerors

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?

Now
For the very first time
Don't you pay no mind?
Set me free again
You keep alive a moment at a time
But still inside a whisper to a liar
To sacrifice but knowing to survive
The first decline another state of mind
I'm on my knees, I'm praying for a sign
Forever, whenever
I never wanna die
I never wanna die
I never wanna die
I'm on my knees
I never wanna die
I'm dancing on my grave
I'm running through the fire
Forever, whatever
I never wanna die
I never wanna leave
I'll never say goodbye
Forever, whatever
Forever, whatever

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
Where do I begin?
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
Where do I begin?

I'm learning to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
I'm learning to talk again
Can't you see I've waited long enough?
